Enterprise Productivity and Delivering Connected
Entertainment Virtually Anywhere”
Speaker: Mr Edgar Figueroa, Executive Director,
Wi-Fi Alliance
Abstract
In the home and in the enterprise, Wi-Fi
technology has transformed the way people work
and play. The Wi-Fi Alliance, which operates the
Wi-Fi industry’s only interoperability
certification program, will provide an update on
Wi-Fi technology, emphasizing next-generation
802.11n and new capabilities for Wi-Fi. Topics
will include:
Wi-Fi/mobile convergence:
leveraging wireless WAN and LAN technology
together to deliver a rich experience on the
handset
Entertainment everywhere: use
of Wi-Fi to transport multimedia and video
Wi-Fi to transform the
enterprise: mesh, voice, and more
Both enterprise and home
environments will be discussed in detail, as
well as the importance of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED
interoperability verification.
Speaker Biography
Edgar Figueroa is the Executive Director of the
Wi-Fi Alliance. Prior to becoming Executive
Director, Edgar managed the Wi-Fi Alliance
certification program for four years, where he
led the organization in establishing a regimen
of program development practices. He is a
frequent speaker at member outreach events
around the world.
Prior to joining the Wi-Fi
Alliance, Edgar enjoyed roles in technical and
product marketing for Ridgeway Systems &
Software and 3M.
Edgar served a four year tour
with the United States Navy in a fighter pilot
training squadron. There, he was meritoriously
advanced and received several commendations. He
has taught at the University of Texas at Austin
and at Austin Community College.
Edgar is a graduate of the
University of Texas at Austin. He holds a
Masters in Technology Commercialization. He also
has undergraduate degrees in Mechanical
Engineering and Mathematics.
